AT&T Switcher / Young America - Please help me talk to someone

Now that I've read about all the horror stories with this promotion and with Young America, I'm afraid i'm going to be in for a rough go of it.

I made the switch from Sprint back in August and submitted my Switcher claim; however, I ended up entering the wrong amount, failing to account for additional early termination/device charges I accrued with Sprint upon switching.  My original claim has been sitting in the required waiting period for the last 6 weeks, and I've wanted to talk to someone to see if I could modify the claim or if I should send in a new one.

In the process of trying to talk to someone - I've sent multiple emails via the contact form on the Switcher portal, and I've tried phone calls that have me going in circles between different numbers with no ability to talk to anyone.  Any help would be appreciated - at the very least I'd like a good number to get a customer service representative to discuss this with me.  Thanks in advance.

Hi @ackontor!

My apologies for the trouble you’ve had with the Switcher offer! Kudos for keeping the pressure on with those emails and calls, I know how annoying that can get!

I contacted Young America to get clarification on your request. In order to get the correct information on the claim, please re-submit your info via the website. The new request should overwrite the current one, however this will start the process and timelines over again unfortunately!

I hope that helps out! Have an amazing day, and thanks for being a part of the AT&T Community!

Demetria,

Thank you for the response and for following up for me.

An update -

They reviewed my updated request and approved it within a couple of days.

HOWEVER - they only credited me for the lease cancellation charge minus the credit I received from turning in my phone (~$251).  My final bill also included a $210 device purchase charge I owed for not turning my leased device in.  Per offer terms:

Customers seeking reimbursement for device balances (including lease purchase costs) are eligible for up to $640.

It seems obvious that device purchase fees are part of "device balances" and I should have been compensated for that as well.  When I responded to the ATT CustomerCare email I received regarding this, they said that I would have to resubmit on the Switcher site.  I think this is a little ridiculous given the fact that all of this information was on the bill I already submitted.  Please advise, and thanks again.

Hello again @ackontor!

While it is appropriate that the trade-in credit does count towards the total ETF reimbursement, I definitely see your point here!

Per the article we have on this offer it says the credit can be used for “Early Termination Fee (ETF), installment balance or lease payment and purchase costs of your current provider.”

This would seem to imply that we are trying to reimburse those charges as well, so we would be glad to help investigate this since both of those charges you mentioned seem to fall within this category.

Let us know if they rebate team gives you any trouble on this, we would be glad to get in contact with them on your behalf!

This has been a problem with Sprint.  Most carriers don't have both a lease on a phone AND a contract for service with an ETF.  Seems shady on Sprints part.

Thank you for the replies - I'll follow up when I hear back from them.  Agree that it is probably shady on Sprint's part by charging a Lease Cancellation fee + a device purchase charge.

Hi @davenru!

My apologies for the trouble you’ve been having with the Switcher program!

When was the last time you received a solid update about your rebate?

Did you complete the online registration form and upload the final bill here?

If so, I would suggest contacting the rebate processing center, to see what may have happened to it! They can be reached at 1-866-852-8617.

Feel free to keep us updated on this situation, these rebates are important to us!

Thank you for reaching out! Welcome to the AT&T Forums!

To whom it may concern....

Yes I think this is a big RIP off to customers..I was told at the store that my pass phone carrier would be paid off...What a total LIE..First of all the store Manager was liar from the very start..But i still went with At&t...But come to find out after I fianlly got to talk to a Rep at Young American group that was not the case..I had no contract... What a bunch liars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would and will never tell anyone to use at&t for nothing...Now I am stuck with 2 bills I have to pay... never again will I trust At&t  or Young American Group to live up to their words...I been dealing with this issue since Dec3. and they finally said I would get like 150.00 to pay 588.00 bill from my previous carrier...............REALLY...every chance I get I will express to at&t how they lied to me.Being disrespected, hung up on,waiting on the phone for 1 hour just to get to a disrespected by untrained Reps...supervisors and anyone else that I came across...Yes I would like to speak to a respectful person that can understand how I feel ......................Dissappointed by LIARS AT AT&T

@Shewillnever

All of the big 4 carriers had the same $650 offer.  If you follow the procedure it reimburses any contract ETF, device payments or lease.

None of the carrier agree to pay for service bills or taxes from your previous carrier.

Its all in the printed offers online for anyone to read.
