Nokia Lumia 1020

Nokia Lumia 1020 is purportedly coming to AT&T July 11, 2013.  Can't wait to dump my Lumia 900 7.8. Who else is prepared to upgrade?

Should be a great upgrade for those on the 900...

Meh...surely another WP8 phone will be coming in the fall. Camera seems great on the 1020 but everything else the same a current market.

I don't see it John. the 900 still rivals most of the market to include apple offerings.

I would guess that the new phone (WP upgrade) will be out in time for the holidays, around 1 November.

I'm waiting for the WP GDR3 update. It brings 1080p screens and quad core optimization for WP8 and Nokia is rumored to have an EOS2 with those specs ready to be launched in October.(For those that don't know, EOS1 is the 1020).

Re: Nokia Lumia 1020

Seems July 26th is the new date... and at&t now has a page up for the device....

I however will stick with my 808 until they figure out how to correctly get windows to use the new smaller 41mp sensor.

Re: Nokia Lumia 1020

I guess I'm not getting it. I'm stuck w/ my Lumia 900 till 03/31/14. I don't have $600 for one. Hopefully AT&T, Nokia & Microsoft still supports my phone till then. By the time my contract ends the Lumia 1120 will probably be out w/ WP9 OS and a 82 MP camera...

I don't see them releasing an updated 41mp phone any time soon, maybe 4Q 2014. But it is a lot more likely to see an updated Lumia 920 with similar camera specs but updated cpu, screen, design, sometime this fall.

Releasing an updated 1020 this year would bring a lot of hate on Nokia from everyone who went all in and got the 1020 now. I can still remember the backlash from 900 owners when Nokia just couple of months from hyping the 900 went ahead and released the 920. A further blow was added by Microsoft there when no WP8 support was announced. This is one of many reasons why I very much doubt that Nokia would do the same to everyone who gets the 1020 at the huge cost now. Also remember that many 900 owners on contract actually got the phone for free with the $100 Nokia refund for the software glitch at release.

Re: Nokia Lumia 1020

same. If anything I imagine (hope) a worthy 920 successor for AT&T arrives (more ram ?, improved camera ? and PLEASE keep the wireless charging)

The "lower resolution" of the Windows (Nokia) phones is hardly an issue and Windows Phone 8 runs much better (optimized) compared to either iOS or Android (have used all 3 OSes extensively). I'd dare to say that much of the need for quad core is more about e-peen/marketing that actual performance/usability. My dual core 1.5 ghz Android on 4.2 is much less fluid than the 1020 on a "slower" dual core. My wife's Nexus (on Jelly bean) is constantly lagging/freezing where as a similarly equipped 920 is again very fluid.
