Mislead to make a sale
On 6/22/13 I upgrade two lines to the iphone4. Spoke to a rep before hand and was told that with the promotion that AT&T had going on, that there would be no fees for the phones, upgrade or activation. Now I am being charged upgrade fees for the two new iPhones. Today I spoke to a rep and was told, sorry that was not the promotion, after being on hold for 15 minutes or so while they tried to find the promotion, and that my expectations were Incorrect. When I explained that I was a long time customer and that I was told by the rep that there was no fees at all for the upgrade and two iPhones, I'm sorry that your expectations were incorrect. To top it off, examining to the rep that I was not happy and wanted to know why I was lied to by rep that was dealing with me for the upgrade, ( in mid sentance ) rep said Ty for being an AT&T customer and have a good day, goodbye and hung up on me.
I have been with AT&T for a long time. Evidently AT&T has made it so big they just don't care about customers and service any more. Guess its time to switch company's.if your an old customer, good luck getting good customer service and not being deceived.

Perhaps they meant that the phones themselves were free? I'm sorry to hear you were misinformed but the activation/upgrade fee do still apply to free devices bought with a new 2 year agreement. There are ways offers online where activations may be waived, but they do not carry into retail stores unless they have a big sign that says they are waiving it.

Every other carrier does this, with the exception of T-Mobile since they are no longer offering contract plans, but they do tack on a monthly fee to pay off your device every month.
