I recently switched from an Android Phone to a Windows Phone 8 (WP8) device. AT&T has their own Android Voicemail Viewer app that made it easy to get U-verse voice messages forwarded to an android phone where they can be played directly. It appears their is no equivalent for the WP8 phones.
Utilizing the U-verse voice messaging system option "notification by email" sends a hyperlink of the MyATT web site, but not the actual message. This was fine with an android device, but the message does not play in a WP8 browser and downloading the message results in an error on the phone since the WAV file is an odd format not recognized by WP8.
If AT& T wants to sell WP8 devices they should either produce a Voicemail Viewer app for WP8 or modify the U-verse Messaging system to play or send the voicemail in a WP8 compatible file format.
Any forum member have a workaround besides dialing in to the message service?
PS - I spoke with 4 different "Specialists" on the phone today and all were entirely clueless to the situation. One suggested I download the Android App, bless his heart. I love the Nokia 1020 and WP8 operating system, but playing my U-verse voice messages on my WP8 device should a a one-touch affair.

You might want to post over in the wireless forums also for better exposure. Someone over there might have a solution.

The "weird format" wav file will likely play correctly once your device gets the GDR2 update - which WP8 device do you have?
(I have the same issue with my VOIP provider, phonepower - when they send email with the voice message attached it uses an unsupported codec for WP8)
