new iphone..

I have an iphone 4 32 GB but it recently suffered water damage and doesn't work. So I'm going to buy a new one, but how do I go about doing that? I went to upgrade but it didn't have iphone there. (I don't want a different phone by any means.) I just want a new iphone.

Re: new iphone..

Go to an Apple or AT&T store and buy one.

It's unlikely you qualify for full discount pricing, but you may qualify for early upgrade pricing.

meh. I don't have a problem paying full price since I do have the money, but is going to an apple/AT&T store the only way?

Re: new iphone..

Most likely. You need to buy one from a place that will sell the iPhone to you at full price. You may want to talk to the genius bar staff? They may have some options for you????

I would suggest that you schedule an appointment at an Apple Genius Bar.  IIRC, you can replace an iPhone 4 that has water damage for the out-of -warranty repair cost of $299 for a 32GB phone.  So far that is the cheapest replacement I have seen for an iPhone 4 that has gotten water damage or a broken screen.  The best part is that you get to keep the remainder of your original warranty too, so if you hadn't purchased Apple Care yet, you may have aywhere from 2.5 months to 11.5 months of warranty remaining on your replacement phone, depending upon when you bought your original...

If you qualify for full-discount pricing on the iPhone4 32GB.

Apple handles all warranty and out of warranty replacements.

If you go to an AT&T store and do not qualify for full-discount pricing they you will pay significantly more.

In general for your self and others who will read this thread.  Once you buy your iPhone from ATT, ALL service and support for the hardware and software is from Apple.  If something is wrong with your iPhone, skip ATT and go straight to Apple.  They have options for in-warranty and out-of-warranty repairs that are cheaper than buying a new iPhone.  And if you explain exactly what happened, the Apple folks may surprise you at times at their discretion!!

Apple's customer service is second to none and when they have the ability to do something, they often will but politeness and honesty about what happened is the key.

I know I sound like a fanboy here but I have seen and experienced personally service options that I did not expect or assume I would get when it comes to iPhones, iPods and Mac computers

Make an appointment at your local Apple store's Genius Bar.

Call Apple support then.

Start here: http://www.apple.com/support/

Use the express lane support that is on the lower left.  It will have you describe your problem and should lead you to a phone number or exchange via mail.  There is a note that you can schedule Apple to call you when it is convenient.

You should also be able to get their phone number to call directly.
