mico towers

We have 3 phones in the house. We live where you can't get cell service so we got a mico tower. This is my second one  and I can not get my phones to connect. Its has made service here worst!!! We have 2 Phone 4 and my son has a Samson. My sons phone will not even make calls at home any more. I have been calling ATT for 2 weeks now and get the run around and not one of them have followed up with one of their calls.. I have done everything they have ask me to do.. I just don't understand!!!  I hope someone out there is or had the same problem and can help me fix mine...

Re: mico towers

Unfortunately this is an all too common complaint about AT&T support, or total lack of. Most of the support people are just clueless as to how to help so you'll probably get better help here. And don't expect a call-back if they offer it. It's rare that AT&T will follow up with a call-back.

First of all, there are issues right now with the iPhone4's connecting reliably. Basically they don't play nice together and some sort of "fix" is supposed to be coming. Hopefully someone here who has an iPhone4 has a workaround for you for the time being. Your son's Samson phone has to be at least 3G because the MicroCell won't work on anything less. I'm assuming it is.

You've probably already gone thru this but (just in case "support" missed it) - the MC needs to be within 18" to 2' of a window with an open view of the sky to get GPS lock and should be at least 2' away from any wireless router to prevent interference. Default setup is: modem -> router -> MicroCell. Priority mode ( used for troubleshooting and as an alternate setup) is: modem ->MicroCell -> router. You need to have =/> 3Mbps internet connection and you may have to reconfigure your router and set port forwarding. That's something you shouldn't have to do but it was the only way I could get mine to work reliably. The port forwarding settings and instructions I think are now available on AT&Ts site somewhere. If not, I'm sure someone will point you to them or just post the settings. I don't have them readily available right now.

The power, internet, GPS, and G3 light all have to be green and steady for it to work. If any one of those are red or blinking, then that's an indicator of where you problem might be.
