You can't.  Themes must be in device memory.

If you're concerned about free device memory then remove any themes that you don't use.

You can download the application called "Aerize Card Loader 2008 - SD card install utility". The software is $20, and the down fall right now is that once installed you can not receive MMS. The software developer is aware of the issue until then, they are working on a fix for this.
You can load all the games, themes, and anything that you would load to the device memory, you can now load to your SD card..........

Yes you can delete the preloaded themes. You have to have the OS installed on your PC. Once you have it installed you have to locate the cod files.
The location of the cod files (C:\program files\common files\research in motion\Java). You can delete these except the zen themes. For some reason the device needs to keep those zen themes in order to run right (if not the device will load but it will be black and white.

After deleting these cod files from the folder listed above; plug in BB and launch Desktop Manager. Go to Application Loader and let it update the device and it will remove those themes from the BB and it will reboot. After rebooting check out the Themes and you will notice that the preloaded themes are gone.
