Trying to block text messages with unwanted pictures is too much for ATT

I starting getting unwanted text messages that I tried to block. ATT told me only way for them to block a text message was to sign up for for Smart Controls. I did so. Now they tell me if the text message includes pics or video they cannot block it. So this means anyone can send you unwanted pornography for instance and ATT is unable or unwilling to stop it. That makes no sense to the customer. So why would anyone tell a friend to use ATT? Of course this also is using up your text traffic limits with unwanted garbage. Why is ATT unable to to stop this?

Two reason would be they cannot figure out how to stop it which is unlikely. The other is that they have a deal not to stop this traffic of information no matter what the consumer wants.

Okay ATT, what do you have to say?

The actual block of the person sending the messages, you would need the smart limits, but as you bluntly stated, it does not block multimedia messages. If you would prefer to not use the multimedia feature, you can add a "data opt out" feature which would keep your phone from receiving the multimedia (So long as the phone is not a smart phone) Now if the phone IS a smart phone, you could more than likely find a lovely little app in the app store that could do that for you.
