Sierra MC8775 UMTS/HSDPA Card sim- or netlocked?

[ Edited ]
Hello,
I'm from germany and want to buy a Sierra MC8775 UMTS card from a friend in US.

He bought the card with an AT&T contract for his HP subnotebook, but he doesn't have the special slot for the card.

Now i'm very interested, but i don't know if the MC8775 is sim- or netlocked to AT&T and won't be able to use with other german providers.

Here is a picture from the wireless card, perhaps you can help me?

Hi,

Yes, that configuration of minicard is locked to the AT&T network. If you put in a SIM card from another network, you'll be asked for the MEP code.

You may be able to get this code from HP - but good luck finding the right person at tech support who actually knows what you're talking about Smiley Happy

Thanks for your fast reply!

So I can buy the card?!

Tomorrow I'll try to reach somebody at the german service center...
