There's a chance US customers won't be getting it due to having a dual core processor vs the quad core processor equipped phones elsewhere.
That's what I've read on the Samsung forums anyhow.

US phones are all dual core processors. They were saying our phones may not be able to run multi-view.

This does make sense for multiwindow features, but not for 4.1.2. We should receive the 4.1.2 update regardless of multiwindow. http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/03/04/verizon-preparing-to-release-4-1-2-update-for-galaxy-s-iii-w... Verizon is already preparing to release this update. AT&T better not be far behind. (Take note, they also make no mention of multiwindow, but what Dan says corroborates this.)

Knowing AT&T we will not get Multi View 4.1.2 until SUMMER or maybe never 4.2.  Why we stay with them???

I was with tmobile for years and trust me, they're not any better. I'm impressed with with Verizon getting 4.1.2 out, except for the added bloatware and lack of multi-view. Doesn't sound like much of an update really...

Dans07SGT Verizon just got the 4.1.2 update today. AT&T is dragging their heels.

(you ninja posted before me haha)

It may not be a HUGE update, but still a nice one, adds a few nice/cool features. I think the fact that they even put out the update is encouraging.

That is a bunch of crap. I have a galxy s3 and it is on att. I assure you that it does run just fine on 4.1.2 with multiwindow.

I have no doubt that it works. Whether or not Samsung, Google and AT&T spend the time or money to make it work is another story.

Agreed, AT&T and Samsung could definitely make it work, the problem is that for them it might not be profitable to put time and effort in. Independent developers on the other hand are also capable and unlike the too big guns have only one goal in mind: To make their device the best it can possibly be.

There is little benefit to ATT to upgrade the OS on the phone. Most people dont care if its 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 and most people dont upgrade. Also, doing an upgrade does cost money (to test) and then they get all the calls from end users who have issues after updating.

I agree. Unfortunately, I went against my own personal rule when I got the GS3 thinking it would get multi-view and that is, NEVER buy a phone thinking it's going to receive updates.

I just dont see why AT&T would allow Sprint and Verizon as well as US Cellular to out do them. Also this update fixes some issues such as the lag on the stock keyboard and improves bluetooth connectivity and clarity. So I dont see why they would allow their customers to have a subpar experience buy not allowing this update. Not to mention that samsung kind of has to update it since google made all the OHA partners agree to maintain a device and all its varientz for 18 months after dare of release. So I will expect a 4.1.2 update. Now I doubt it will have multi window in it. But as for the over all fixes and updates we should get that.

At&t has no answer for the update. Samsung has no answer for the update. And getting in touch with Google is near impossible. I dont know about the rest but Im about to root my phone and install a custom rom.

Its because att is in bed with apple. The gs3 is the direct competitor to iphone. If samsungs flagship device outshines atts money maker then theres a problem. {word filter evasion}

I've been with AT&T for less than a year and have already figured out that they are among the worst in terms of Android updates. I am holding out hope that Google will release a LTE-compatible Nexus device. If that happens, I will never buy another bloated, carrier-branded phone again. AT&T's service is top-notch here in NYC. However, their update process is disgusting.

Yep you learn fast about Updates here at AT&T.  Other carriers get them a Lot Sooner than AT&T.  Wonder why I even stay with them.

Updates are not Samsung but AT&T.  They are out for other carriers Verizon, T-Mobile etc.  Its AT&T is the problem and there bloatware.

All the other carriers have it. Stop holding it back because you want us to buy the gs4. I am not buying that over priced phone, I already paid for this over priced phone with the hopes that you'd hold up your end and update my device to keep it current. We're all waiting AT&T. You could be a great company if you stopped ignoring your problems.
