Samsung Flight II turns off when receiving a text from certain people?

Very strange issue.  We just got my daughter a brand new Samsung Flight II, and for some reason, whenever her mother texts her, the phone turns off.  This does not happen with anyone else, just the one number (which is also on our family share plan).  We've tried turning the phone off manually.  Pulling the battery.  Reseating the SIM card.  Nothing seems to help.  Any thoughts?

Hmmm... I would have to agree; that is a very strange issue. It looks to me like the phone does not particularly like your wife sending a text message to your daughter. Maybe your daughter set it up that way? Smiley Very Happy (Just kidding).

I would recommend exchanging the phone if it is going to be a problem. That is very, very odd. I've never heard something like this before. Take the phone back to the original place of purchase for an exchange with all included equipment. Hopefully you will have better luck with a replacement.

Here's an interesting thought.  We actually used my wife's line to qualify for the upgrade price on my daughter's phone, but never activated the new phone with my wife's sim card.  We simply brought the phone home and popped my daughter's sim card in.  Perhaps the network thinks my wife is texting herself somehow, even though the nember and all is OK on my daughter's phone.  It's the only thing that makes sense.  Might do a bit of sim swapping tonight jsut for kicks.

Perhaps that could be the issue. Go ahead and try swapping the SIMS between your wife's and daughter's phones. It's all a matter of elimination and cause and effect. Good luck - maybe you'll save a trip toward exchanging the phone. Smiley Wink

My samsung flight 2 is doing the same exact thing! But it isn't with someone in specific, it just turns off by itself! very annoying!

My phone is doing the EXACT same thing. When my Mother texts me it shuts off and turns back on. but only when she texts me, not anyone else. Its quite odd and annoying considering I am very close to my mother and I'm trying to plan my wedding and we can't text one another. If you figure out how to fix it please post. I work full time and I never have time to go to At&t or anywhere else to try to fix it. Thanks =D

My phone is doing it too. Only when I receive texts from my daughter, who is on my family plan & also has a flight2 .  With us I know it is not an instance of swapped sims or phones because she had hers for a few months before I got mine. We both had the vu plus before the touch screens broke. Those were awesome phones!  In addition to what everyone else tried I removed her from my contact list on the phone & sim card then tried having her text me. The result was the same. I would like to know if this is an  AT&T glitch in family plans or a phone compatibility issue. Obv, i can't not be able to receive texts from my teenage daughter and it needs to be resolved.  I am just not looking forward to waiting another month for bestbuy to decide they can't fix it, and tell me to pick a new phone when the flight2 is the only non smartphone possibility. Not right that i should have to pay another $30 a month so I can get a phone that doesn't suck when i won't be using mobile internet.

So after being frustrated with the same issue I decided to tackle customer service @  at&t & they stayed on line w/me while I spoke to Samsung.  Representative @ Samsung guided me through a master reset. It unfortunately did not solve the problem.   My phone was only a couple months old I was under warranty (&insured).  After the tech from both places could not help me at&t forwarded my chat to a warranty replacement specialist & she had me do a master reset on my daughter's phone. It worked!  So just to clarify, I could send texts to my daughter but I couldn't open ones she sent me. So in this case it appears that if you perform a master reset on the phone that is sending the un openable texts, it may resolve the issue.  Please make sure you save info on your phone first!    The steps for a master reset are:  Save info!  ,  remove sim card & start phone. once you have the sos calls only sign, type in   "  *2767*3855#  "  It will reset & restart.  Replace the battery, & start phone.   Now that code is to master reset gphones.   This worked for me, good luck!
