NO MORE DATA PLANS FOR PAYG USERS, IT'S TRUE.

So, let's see how this works out for AT&T. They eliminated all data plans from Pay As You Go users effective today. I know I'm heading to T-Mobile just as soon as my balance runs out. i might even leave earlier out of spite. Man Mad

Huh? No one is saying that at&t cannot change their rates and services. If from some point in time rates/services are changed, there is not much one can do about it, but at least you expect that rates and services that were already paid for to be delivered under the terms that were in effect when you paid for them. Right?

Also, at&t didn't make any effort in communicating to all its PAYGO customers about the changes in advance so they could better plan their purchases of such services. They were selling under the old terms through all their channels until the very last minute without any warning of the impending changes. Bait and Switch,

As you can see, this is the attitude of some people, including apparently Cingular Wireless (now calling themseves AT&T Wireless). I'm waiting to here from the BBB. I received a call from the "President's Office from AT&T", sounding so high and mighty. They said, "We're here for you, Here's our number, We are researching it". I expect nothing.

Did you request at&t for a refund or credit back to your account balance for data you had bought, and was it denied? If so, you got a good case IMHO.

I don't think I did initialy request a refund. I did complain that I had just deposited $100 and that I had just bought $25 worth of data.

I remember the day I received the text (4/4/12), I called to see if this was for real. The CSR told me it was true and that the only way to keep my data was to change to the monthly plan. I don't remember asking for a refund or her offering me anything for the loss of funds.

Again, I don't expect anything. But, I think it would be helpfull if a lot more people do file complaints through the BBB,

Well for what it's worth, I just called customer service about this, since I almost never use my phone for calls, just texts and data.  I asked for a supervisor, who was very nice, and found that she could put me on a plan where I pay $1.00 a day when the phone is used as a phone (which is almost never) and allows a data package to be added.  I kind of got the impression it's not always available to anyone, but given my experience, it's worth a try.  Otherwise, I agree, I definitely would have bailed on AT&T when my balance ran out.

Are you sure that was $1.00 per day and not $2.00 per day?

If there's going to be the $1 per day plan, I second it.

I got nowhere with BBB. I was basically told, the rules changed, and I did not like the rules. Of course, none of the facts as stated are entirely true, I only donated the final $35, and totally not addressed was the lost data I paid for. I really did not expect anything anyway.

"AT&T Mobility (''AT&T'') is in receipt of the above-referenced customer's complaint and appreciates the opportunity to respond. Specifically, XXXXXXXX states he received a text message stating data plans could only be purchased for prepaid lines subscribed to monthly service plans. Mr. XXXXX is dissatisfied with this policy, and the fact he only received the message two weeks before it went into effect. Mr. XXXXX advises that he denoted his remaining balance to charity and cancelled service. Mr. XXXXXX is requesting a refund of his latest payment of $105.00.

On May 18, 2012, XXXXXXXX , an AT&T Office of the President Specialist, spoke with Mr. XXXXX regarding his concerns. Our records indicate that Mr. XXXXX already utilized his balance, including the last payment made on the account, for service or for charitable donations from his mobile device. Additionally, AT&T's GoPhone customer agreement states, with regard to termination of accounts, that, ''Funds deposited into your account via any method will not be refunded.'' Based on the foregoing AT&T cannot accommodate Mr. XXXXX  request for a refund.
AT&T regrets any inconvenience caused by this matter. We trust this letter addresses your concerns regarding this complaint.  "
