Is data plan traffic encrypted?
Both Edge, 3G, and HDSPA?  Or is it all cleartext?

it's encrypted OTA from card to tower, but is cleartext once it hits the backbone. unlike wifi, it's not vulnerable to casual sniffing - expensive equipment would be required to intercept and decode the radio data.
