Iphone 3gs won't make or receive calls with 3g turned on

The problem I am having is my iPhone 3gS won't make or receive phone calls or text messages while the 3 G is turned on.  I can dial the number and nothing will happen.  As soon as I turn the 3g off, everything works perfectly.  I spoke with an ATT customer service rep, and he had me reset the network settings.  That seemed to work but it has reverted to its old ways.  Any advice?

Sounds like it may be a software issue. Have you considered reinstalling the OS? (Back up first!)

I did with no success.  I've restored all settings, whiped everything clean and its still hit or miss whether I receive calls or not. I switched out my sim card into my wife's old 3gs and it works perfectly.

Unfortunately it looks like you have your answer. It sounds like there's an issue with your phone itself. Smiley Sad
