I'm using a PC with Windows Vista. After I sync my iPhone 4 with iTunes 10, how can I back-up that image (to an external storage) and/or save multiple images (with in iTunes)?I might want to jailbreak my phone, but I want to be able to go back to my "original" image in case I don't like the jailbreak. Please advice.Thank you.
iTunes does not create an "image" of your device, it creates a backup.
The difference being an image would allow you to restore the device to the exact status it was at on x date, including the OS.
The backup created in iTunes is of the device configuration (email setup, SMS/MMS messages, WiFi passwords, application settings) but only allows for restore to the current version of iOS.
This article provides detailed information regarding what is included in the backup and the location of the files. You can then copy those files/directories to an external drive for safe keeping.
