Has anyone heard of the AirLink101 802.11g Wireless 3G Mobile Router Model #AR360W3G?

I have AT&T's LaptopConnect Card 3G Sierra Wireless Aircard 881 - PCMCIA card and the AT&T service.  I found this router on the internet and an trying to get it to work.  It comes up with a "unrecognized option '/dev/modem'".   I'm thinking  this means is doesn't recognize  this card.  It just comes up connecting under 3G and never connects.

Thanks,  Linda

I've seen this at Fryes & researched it a little. You should be able to find the homepage w/support; I've lost the link. Anyway, memory says this was compatible with the 860, nothing later.

Hey, "History" works: http://www.airlink101.com/products/ar360w3g.html

That message "unrecognized option '/dev/modem'" sounds like a Linux error message. Not sure how you would get around that.

Re: Has anyone heard of the AirLink101 802.11g Wireless 3G Mobile Router Model #AR360W3G?

I have plans to contact AirLink101 today via phone.  I opened a ticket via online because I couldn't get thru to a human voice over the weekend and still don't have an answer.  By the way, when setting up this router, they ask for the Phone number, Username and Password provided by your internet service provider.  Would anyone know what I should be using?  I use 3G Watcher from Sierra and I only fine a Profile name - isp.cingular and APN (Access Point Name) - isp.cingular.  The example that AirLink101 gives in their setup instructions is for Cingular - Phone Number: *99***1#, Username: xxx@cingulargprs.com, Password: xxxxx.   Thanks and I'll let you know how I come out if I can get thru to the vendor.  Linda

If I remember my Linux, the /dev/modem error means it cannot find driver/config info for that device, consistent with the Airlink webpage not listing it as compatible.

I think the username is as you wrote, but all caps & password is CINGULAR1. Tech support will give it to you if you call.

Re: Has anyone heard of the AirLink101 802.11g Wireless 3G Mobile Router Model #AR360W3G?

I just wanted to update this incase it would help anyone else.  This router did work!  After finally talking to a tech, he told me that when the router (which is what that message did mean) does not recognize the aircard that you can get the aircard's MAC address  from an  IPCONFIG /ALL  (physical address) (of course, that means you have to already have the aircard working without the router) and input that address into the MAC address field on the router setup.  It may not work for all aircards, but it did work for the Sierra 881 PCMCIA aircard.  Also, as far as AirLink101's technical support goes.  If you don't get through by phone, leave a voice mail.  They did call me back and that person did help.  As for their web tickets, their answer from it was to return the router - that it would not work & it was VERY SLOW getting that back.  And, maybe they say email or live chat when you are waiting on hold, but I found no way to do either.  Also, they sent me an email to complete a survey about their voice technical support - and when I tried, it told me I was not authorized.  So, they do have some issues!

The reason that I am returning this router is because my 3G signal is not strong enough.  And, who knows when AT&T will have more antennas installed so that I have 3G ALL THE TIME.  This router does not work with 2G.

If anyone what's to know anymore about my adventures with this router, email me at {Personal content edited to prevent spam}
