HTC Vivid - Disappointing Performance

I've now seen two different side by side comparisons with the Samsung Skyrocket,

Other than the better display and build quality on the Vivid, the Skyrocket beats it on:

1.) Benchmark tests
2.) Download speeds
3.) Battery life

Disappointing!

One more thing that may help you, is going into your apps, go all the way over to all apps and start disableing the ones that are not needed. Saves alot data, and space on your phone. Be careful to what u disable, dont disable any of the main needed operations.

Mostly correct.  The HTC fastboot option really just puts your phone into a deep sleep instead of really powering it down, allowing it to power on quickly.  So if you have apps running in the background, they won't be closed.  This is especially true if something is misbehaving, powering down and back up again with fastboot activated will usually not fix the issue.  Either choose the "restart" option when you hold the power button (which is a real reboot), turn off fast boot (Settings » Applications » Fastboot) or do a battery pull.

Yes, I imagine that I could disable Sense and a few other apps lol

Funny thing is when I checked what was using my battery, I saw after Display that it was Calendar that was using a lot but I would not disable that.

OK, I found it, it says I am using pta, I cannot edit the access point. If I try to hit menu and "new APN", then there is a whole list of things to enter and I do not know what goes in there.

What was this APN thing about anyway? I don't think I have a network problem.

Yes, you will come across a bunch of options to add a new APN. So there for when ur there on that page, hit the 4lines symbol at the bottom to the right of your home screen symbol.

The PTA is a regular connection for the HTC Vivid. A represenitive told me to add a diff APN for better connection. The new APN should help your wifi problem.

So, you 're saying that changing my APN will stop Gmail from crashing when I view an email with a bunch of images in it?

Sounds like you need to take some time and actually talk to a specialist. Cause not exaftly seeing what the phone is doing, im not.much of a big help, can only give certain advice.

Why is it that you keep giving advice to change the APN knowing it is locked and not tell anyone how to go about doing that. I got enough of 'This is what you should do but We aren't going to tell you how' when I looked at the HTC Vivid manual that I downloaded. I am a phone user. Some of us are phone users not an electronics wizards. I would like to have some step by step instructions so I won't mess my phone up entirely.
