I sure hope the AT&T get the HTC Desire HD 8 megapixel camera with flash because they need a phone with a Flash.

Re: HTC Desire HD

I think that is just the GSM European version of the Evo 4G...no?

Re: HTC Desire HD

It is not the same.  It will have a faster chip, GPU and more RAM then the EVO.  It also does not have the FFC or the kickstand.

As far as coming to AT&T, right now the phone does not have the 3G bands that are used in the US.  It was presented to the FCC though but since there are no US 3G bands, it is shakey on if it will be released here.

Where did you see this? The FCC says otherwise and even the one source who stated that it was coming to the U.S. later this year didn't offer any physical/concrete evidence. At this point you either buy it unlocked and not have 3g, wait and hope or buy one of AT&T's halfassed android devices (excluding the Samsung Captivate but I don't prefer Samsung devices).

Re: HTC Desire HD

According to the link below, it is coming to Australia.  If this is true, then I believe you can get an unlocked Australians HTC Desire HD and have 3G because they use the same 3g bands as AT&T.  Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Australia (900 and 1800 MHz) uses only one of the two 3G bands used by ATT (850 and 1900 MHz).  So depending on the market where you live or may be travelling to, you may or may not have 3G with an unlocked Australian version.  If you know for fact that your home market is 1900 Mhz, and you don't leave that market often, then it should work fine.  Otherwise, the best hope for an unlocked version of this phone is for Telus (Canada) to pick it up, as they use the exact same 850 and 1900 MHz 3G bands.

Re: HTC Desire HD

I'm guessing that from mid October on, ATT will be all about the new WP7 devices and iphones. Android has been given a bit of a short shift here, can't imagine what will happen when they have four or five new smartphones to display, and little space......

There are 2 phone carriers that are supposedly getting the Desire HD and neither of them use the US 3G bands. The one that does I believe is Telstra and it hasn't been announced for them yet. If they get it then we can get that unlocked version for our 3G bands.

I still think its all speculation but I'm leaning towards the idea of this phone coming to the states later this year, as for the carrier...who knows.

Re: HTC Desire HD

Can somebody tell me WHY ATT would not jump on this phone.  I just can't believe that they're staying away from HIGH END Android devices because of Apple.  By the way, I heard the launch date for this thing is Oct 13.

business contracts by the manufacturer with outer providers. No one knows what the contractural agreements are concerning the phones that HTC or for that fact other manufacturers have with the providers.
