Google to buy Motorola

I just heard that Google intends on buying Motorola for $12.5 billion. I'm real curious to see how this one turns out.

And a battery no less than 1000 mAh, Motorola makes a 1380 mAh battery, the BX81,  but it's a bit thick so that would ruin the slim profile and if I recall is not compatible with GSM phones. My phone uses a 920 mAh battery so 1000 should do the job.

Myabe if it was a different color and more RAZR like in design. Check this one out http://www.yankodesign.com/2011/01/19/how-cool-can-a-flip-phone-get/.

OK, I could give that one a try!  I was actually thinking about a design just like that, but 2 screens that fold out, never thought about 3 sides.

Why is the US always the last in getting new, cool tech gadgets? Smiley Sad

I wonder how a phone like that will hold up to everyday use. Would it be safe to say that phones like the RAZR and the IPhone were the last time the US got the jump on everbody else?

IBM was first to make the move in selling the PC business to Lenovo, and now with HP spinning off their PC business, HP could possibly go the same way. Who knows what will happen to Apple or Motorola. However it appears that continuous innovation by Apple has prevented "migration". Now with Google buying Motorola, it looks like Motorola will continue to get the "jump" on everybody else.

I'm not saying that IBM and HP stopped innovating. It's just that the PC has matured so much that there appears to come to a point where further innovation is not possible, other than tablets. But what's next after smartphones and tablets?

I'm not too up to date on this stuff, but in the past how have these buyouts and mergers faired? As I said in a previous post I really am intrigued as to how the Google and Motorola and AT&T and T Mobile scenario will play out.

I hope Google will keep the Motorola "M" emblem if they do end up acquiring the company. I think the symbol is very cool. The only thing they should do to it is make it red, blue, and green, just like the traditional Google lettering.

I hadn't thought of that, but yeah I hope they don't change the emblem either. I like the holographic effect of the emblem on the inside of my phone.

From what I read, Google will treat Motorola as a separate entity. Motorola will have to make a bid for the next Nexus, just like other companies. This probably means that Motorola will have autonomy with the mobile hardware side of the business.

As for AT&T and T-Mobile merger, I don't want to venture a guess, as nobody knows the outcome of the merger bid.
