I was wondering something hopefully someone can help us out. My girl bought a LG Neon go phone plan, and while happy with everything, she dropped it and it's cracked, she would like to take the sim card out and put it into a different phone, but I heard that once you activate the go phone sim card its locked into a phone for a while any idea how long? Also any way to unlock it so it could work with a different phone?
Any help would be deeply appreciated thanks in advance.
Nah, that's not true. If the original phone is damaged just swap the SIM card to another device and it should work fine, the same number, the same balance. AT&T doesn't block SIM cards to the phones they're activated with.
okay , so .
i took my sim card out of my phone , i KNOW the sim card is activated .
but when i put it in to the razr , it says "unregistered sim"
how do i resolve this ?
Try removing and inserting the SIM card again.
You said you know the SIM is from an active phone number. Your RAZR is from AT&T or it's an unlocked or debranded one?
it's a go phone sim card , & it worked when i put it in a blackberry .
& yes , the razr is from AT&T, it's red.
& i've taken the sim card out multiple times , with the same thing ; "unregistered sim" , then a few min. later the phone will say "check sim" , i have no other phone to use , and have no way to get to an AT&T store .
Do you know any ways to resolve this problem ?
when i call customer service , there's no option of talking to a technical support rep.
Have you tried with another device apart from your RAZR or the Blackberry? If it works in other phones then your RAZR may be the problem, specially if you say that it was working fine in your BBRY.
if the sim card works in the BB and not in the Razr then is the Razr that maybe isnt working.
try cleaning the sim card and the rzr slot where the sim cards goes .
Your sim is locked to the phone it was activated with for the first 120-180 days of service. If you try to put it into a different att phone regardless of whether its a Go phone or not, it will not work. After those 120-180 days you can put your sim in any att phone freely. It's crazy, I know, but I just had a customer come in trying to use a Go sim in a Att phone that would say Unregistered Sim, even thought the phone he originaly got the sim with 2 weeks ago works fine. I did some research and its true, Att is actualy restricting you to that specific phone. Ridiculous, but try calling att customer service and having them update the phone on your account.
Any ideas if you're supposed to do anything to get the SIM to work in other phones after 180days? I've had mine for slightly over 180day and trying to put it in a Motorola SLVR L7 and it comes up Unregistered SIM. Yet if I put my british SIM in it's fine (I travel a bunch), or if I put my Wife's TMobile SIM in that also works. The AT&T SIM just won't play nice in any phone other then the crappy GoPhone I bought.
