feature without me authorizing it?

That depends. Did they just switch it automatically (example 200 messages to unlimited messages) without your permission, or did you go with a device upgrade that required a $20 messaging plan?
If you did the upgrade, then that's their rules. You will have to pay the messaging plan if that's the case. If not, then I may be able to find one for you. Are you looking for an e-mail addresss?
