Email sync problem

I have a Bold 9700. BIS. My personal Yahoo email account works fine. Work related Outlook account does not. Even though I select option (on BB) of delete "on mailbox & handheld" it doesn't delete on desktop mailbox even after a UBS sync. That defeats the whole purpose of why I got it. I didn't want 200 unread emails on my desktop when I get to the office, but deleting them on BB as I go doesn't work. I still have to delete everything twice because they are still on my desktop.  Makes no sense. I would be very grateful for any ideas. This is driving me crazy.
PS - Deleting on desktop and then synching works fine - they DO delete on the BB, just not the other way.  What am I missing??
