Downloading symbol and using data limit

I accidently started to download something (a few days ago and cannot remember what it was) and when I realized it was downloading I pressed the 'home' button to stop the download.

Now I have the downloading symbol on my phone constantly and I have had text/emails that I am well over my data limit.

I have turned the phone off, taken out the battery and the sim card but it is still there when i turn the phone back on.

It is a Pantech crossover P8000

Also I have wireless internet and have turned it on but it keeps constantly telling me it is 'obtaining the IP addres's then 'not in range 'despite my computer working on the wireless and the phone being close to  it

I have checked the password which is correct, disconnected and reconnected and it still wont use the wireless connection

Can someone help this 'oldie' with these problems please

thanks

Here is an image the shows the standard home screen icons/symbols - can you tell us which one you're seeing regarding the download?
