Hi so I just got an iPhone 4 about 2.5 months ago. Unfortunately, my niece dropped my iphone in the bath tub and it's completely non-functional at the moment. Would I be able to cancel my data plan and just use my old flip phone for the time being? Thanks

Your contract with ATT is for voice. If you no longer use an iPHone or other smartphone, you no longer are required to have a data plan.
I would stop into an Apple store and see what they can do? Tell them what happened; ask them to tell you about your options and you never know what they can do?

1) yes, if you move your service to a dumbphone, no data service is needed
2) apple will swap/fix the most horribly destroyed iPhones for somewhere between $150-$250, so I would definitely visit the genius bar and get an estimate from them.

What can I do if I buy an iPhone 4 and don't want the data services
nothing. all smartphones require a data plan. if you try to trick the system, at&t will find out and add a data plan to your account automatically.
