Can't I just add a line to my family plan to get the 3G S for $199.99?
Edited by martis2002 on Jun 9, 2009 at 11:01:37 AM
ok so i have iPhone 3G and my wife has an original iphone and we are on a family plan.  Can't i just add a line and pay $9.99 a month for that line on our same plan and get the 16GB 3G S for $199.99 instead of having to pay $399.99 for it since i dont qualify for the $199.99 price?

my guess is no, because when u add that line with iphone, u would also have to add data plan, so u are stuck with $9.99+30/month for 2 years.

If you add a line, you'll get the 199 pricing on the iPhone 3G s, and you'll also have to add the $30 data plan, if you explain to the sales consultant your situation they might allow you to remove the data plan for one of your other iPhones if you take it on this line.

You're going to pay $30 a month regardless of which line you puts the phone on.  You will really only be paying $10 a month extra but for 2 years that's going to be $240, so you might as well pay the more expensive price.

If he's only going to be using an iPhone on 2 lines then he'll only have to pay that 30 twice.  He can just put an old cheapo phone on the added line once he upgrades and switches.  It's just like using someone else's upgrade and then switching lines.   I think.

If it is a family plan it will be 9.99 for the line + 30 for the data plan and then whatever you want in terms of messaging.

The problem is whenever u order an iphone at the discounted price, u have to add data plan at the same time or the order won't go through.

You do realize that anyone with the original iphone gets the $199 price right?

Why not just upgrade your wifes original iPhone to the new one and giver her your 3G phone.
