The blinking green LED indicator is a signal that there is network coverage available.  You can disable by going into Options > Screen / Keyboard and setting the "LED Coverage Indicator" to off.

Green light comes on at exactly 11pm each night. The Pearl is plugged in to charge light then comes on and continues to blink. Dumb as a post I am have no idea how to turn it off or why it is blinking

It blinks while it is charging, once fully charged, it will be solid green, no blinking.
