Blackjack II Ringtones above 300kb - here's the hack

Blackjack II Ringtones above 300kb - here's the hack

OK - I have been looking for this for a long time so here it is. I Just got this working and it works perfectly.  You can now play standard MP3 files on your Blackjack II without conversion, regarless of size!

  1. You need a regedit program so download and install one.  I got one here.
  2. Go into HKEY_Current User → ControlPanel → Sounds
  3. Then hit the "Values" button to display the values
  4. Delete the key of FileSizeLimit
Presto!  Now you can use your MP3s as ringtones without modification.

Re: Blackjack II Ringtones above 300kb - here's the hack

sorry, I believe it was maxfilesize
I deleted it, and am still getting the 'must be under 300kb' error

was I supposed to just change the file, or actually delete it?

no, the instructions are exactly what you need to do.  All you needed to do is delete the "value" of FileSizeLimit.

CA, you need to edit your original post.  You stated the following.

Delete the key of FileSizeLimit

I deleted the entire line from the registry & not the value of that key.  The hack worked, but now I am a little disturbed that I may have caused a problem in my registry by deleting the key & not just the value on the key

Re: Blackjack II Ringtones above 300kb - here's the hack

I dont know what to say.  I simply wrote down everything I did exactly, posted that.  Seems like its worked for some people here.

Edit:  BTW, I too deleted the entire thing and have zero problems.  If a person is not comfortable editing their register, I suggest not doing it.  It can be a little tricky.

Re: Blackjack II Ringtones above 300kb - here's the hack

I'm also havin the same problem. When I delete the key it tells me ringtone must be less the 0KB. So I add the key back in and get the normal message saying Ring tone must be less than 300KB. So my way around this was to just increase the size allowed for ringtones. I set mine to 16000000 bytes. Which allows about a 15 to16 MB file to be loaded as a ring tone.  Has any one figured out how to move My Sounds or the complete My Stuff folder to the Storage card? I know on the Dell PDA'a you could do that.
