I have had iPhones replaced for internal issues but I did once have my 13" MacBook replaced when I spilled a diet coke in the keyboard. Obviously I expected to have to use my homeowners computer coverage policy to cover the accident. They took a quick look at it, ran in back and told me they would take care of it. This was on a Friday after their shipments had gone out for the day as this needed to go to one of their repair depots. By the following Thursday at noon, I had a new/refurb unit in my hands. A quick swap back of the undamaged harddrive from the old unit and it was as if I never skipped a beat!
This is why I advocate using the Apple store as much as possible. Some of this and yours is just great customer service and part is their knowing who their repeat customers are and who will be an advocate for good prodcuts and service.
Now to be fair as some will say this is bias, Apple is not perfect but more than not they come through!

Thats really good though that they sorted ur mac out snappy!
apple seem to be one of the best services ive used and are really efficient
they seem to be very helpful instore and over the phone too
I guess my old iPhone will be repaired and bits replaced inside that so then
it becomes a refurb to another owner it didn't have any marks on the glass so I
guess they will re-use that
I think the silver middle bit will be replaced due to the compost though lol
I find it amazing that all trace of my old iPhone has now become "Status Replaced" and
my new iPhone has taken the place of it im curious how they do this a little uhh well
btw im extremely pleased but now im abit paranoid where I now leave my new iPhone
