ATT software update HTC ARIA

Hi All,

When i try to run AT&T Software update and hit check for updates, it ALWAYS fails with server unavailable error .

Is there any specific setting that i need to do to get this to work.

Thankyou .

Read the stickie at the top of this forum for instructions on how to update your software.

The AT&T software update function is just there for looks, it does not work.

You have to go to the HTC website to download the Froyo update to your computer. It takes about 30-40 minutes to download with a highspeed connection and then maybe 15 minutes to update the phone afterwards. I know the update has been out since 02/25/2011 but there aren't a lot of people talking about what they like or dislike about it. But then I guess not a lot of people bought the Aria when it came out last year either.

Gads the download took forever; but then I downloaded it the night it was released. Install didn’t even take the 10 minute advertised time.

Having to reinstall apps wasn’t fun, but I knew about it so, no real biggie. If I had remembered to jot down what apps I had on what screen I would’ve made life a little easier for myself. Of course had to change the email request intervals and such to more battery-saving levels.

When a notification comes in and you unlock your screen, instead of detail on the notification the bar now says ‘AT&T’. Thanks for that geniuses, I always need a reminder of what carrier I’m on. Stupid!!!!!!!

Other than that, I quite like it. It’s a lot faster. Some new toys. I’m sure I’ll play with live wallpapers in a little bit.

Just bought the Aria in November; my first smartphone. I quite like it.

I'm not on the Aria, but Android will usually re-install the Market apps automatically.  Did it do that?

Otherwise, Titanium Backup is a wonderful thing.  It backs up and restores your apps and app data, and its free on the Market.  Can also remove most (but not all) bloatware.  You need to be rooted to use it.

No, it didn't remember the apps I'd installed. I was aware of the posibilities so it didn't bother me much.

I wanted to post this so that others are aware that you won't automatically get your apps re-installed. FYI, I was logged into my gmail account when I tried to access the Market.

No, it didn’t. Market keeps track of paid apps, but was never able to find out how to recover free ones that were downloaded. All mine were free apps.

To the AT&T specialist,
And why was the privacy settings with its backup and restore left out of the Aria update to FroYo?
Probably from mobile, maybe. Smiley Happy
