3gs Help!!!

i have a iphone 3gs and it has a charged battery, but it turns off out of the blue. then when i try to turn the phone on its shows the logo for a while and will shut off or turn on the shut off moments later. any ideas? thank you for the help guys

You may have a hardware issue?  Your battery may be at it's end of life?

 

Try a restore and then apply your backup and see if that works?  Sometimes a fresh copy of iOs helps.  If not, a trip the the Apple store may be in order and ask them to run some quick diagnositcs on it.   They can then tell you if there is something wrong and what options they have to offer.

So i rested the phone by pressing the top and home button. is that how i restore? or do i clear and rest all data in the settings?

The home and top button just reboot the phone.  To restore it, you plug it into iTunes and use the restore button.
