Turn off low battery beep
...anyone know how to turn off that annoying low battery beep? Inevitably it happens in the middle of the night, waking up most of the family.
Hey- - isn't the "low battery" message sufficient? ...and if it runs down and turns off, who cares?

Thanks to those of you who have tried to help me.Here's a summary, and my conclusions.
I conclude that you can't turn off the beep directly. This seems like something important that Motorola didn't think of. ...not bright! All I want is a phone that can get a signal reliably, holds a charge for a reasonable time, and doesn't wake me up at night with useless beeping. Score: mediocre/OK/poor. ...but I have yet to find a better phone & provider. (sigh)
Here's a summary of recommendations:
(1) turn it off at night (not an option. Why have a phone if it's off?)
(2) put it on charge every night (battery concerns. ...destroyed my last phone's battery this way. ...out of warranty.)
(3) put it on vibrate or silent (this worked. Thanks!!! I'll try keeping it on vibrate. Who needs ring tones anyway?)
(4) "mod" the phone (I'm no techie. Not an option, but I'll look into it.)

Putting it on charger is not a good solution. Over charging the battery shortens its life. Better to run it down for a few days, then charge it, but how long varies. (Signal is not reliable where we live, so battery life varies as signal comes and goes.)
Disabling the beep would be a whole lot easier. ...simpler, too.

There has been a lot of debate here and elswhere about running down a battery all the way before rechargeing. With today's battery technology, that is no longer a necessary step. If you feel the need, running down the phone completely once a month would have the same effect as doing so each night.
Plug in the charger and don't worry about it. Older batteries yes, new ones no problems.

Okay. Fine. (My electrical engineer son-in-law would argue with you, but... no matter.)
But now, back to my original question- - how do you turn the beep off?

Theoretically he is correct. Practically, you will not notice a difference and if you do the battery would be under warranty when it goes bad or it is time/you will want a new phone anyways.
