LG Quantum - Camera "click" sound

Is there some way to turn off the camera "click" sound?  Even if I mute my phone, the sound remains.  Also find it highly frustrating that I can not save camera settings.  Thanks.

It's not easy to do, but it's possible. It requires changing a key in the phone's registry, and messing with the registry does involve risk. I did some research online and found the key to change (and how to change it), and now my phone shutter is silent when I take pictures if my phone's volume is turned all the way down.

Awesome Can you give instructions on that?

Here's the key that needs to be changed:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Audio\StreamClass\Output\10]
"BypassDeviceGain"=dword:0

In other words, change this key from whatever it is to 0 and then reboot the phone. That's all it takes.

To enable the MFG application that will let you edit your LG phone's registry, do this:

Bring up your phone dialer

Enter ##634#
When prompted for a password, enter 277634#*#

From then on, under your app list you'll have MFG. One of the tools inside MFG is a registry editor.

That's as specific as I want to get, because I don't want you to mess up your phone (which is easy to do when you get into the MFG app and registry). Google will help you find more detailed instructions on specifically how to get into the MFG registry editor and how to find and change keys. If you can't find and figure out those instructions, then I would highly discourage moving forward with the hack attempt because it does take a fair amount of comfort with working in the guts of the phone. It's not the sort of thing everyone should be doing. 🙂

found it..

turned phone volume down to zero.

Got into edit registry (thank you)

typed in the key and selected DWORD (instead of STRING)

typed in the bypass code

hit 'Set'

.... still clicks .... 😕

1. Select ROOT_PATH.

It defaults to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

is that right?

2. Input SUB_PATH:

??? IDK what this is? do i need one
3. Input KEYand Select data type:

I put the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Audio\StreamClass\Output\10] here and selected DWORD (instead of STRING)

4. Input data ( Just needed in Set ) :

I put "BypassDeviceGain"=dword:0

is this right?? HELP!!

That didn't work so i must be skipping something ...

thanks a lot!

That looks like the right key. You have to reboot after changing the key. Then you have to turn the phone's volume all the way down (don't put the phone on vibrate--the shutter will still make the noise if you do that).

I just found a really detailed instruction. and it works on my QUANTUM!!!

hope it helps you too lol

7. Reboot phone and test.

1. Tap box under ROOT_PATH and select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
2. Tap box under SUB_PATH and put in Audio\StreamClass\Output\10
3. Tap box under KEY and put in ClassGain
4. Tap STRING box and change to DWORD
5. Tap Query and verify that it gives you an output result.
6. Put 0 in the input data field and hit Set.

this will permanately shut down the click sound even if you volume is not 0

i am so satisfied with my quite camera now!!~

once Mango is released you can easily turn it off under ringtones+sound.

You're sure LG is going to allow that? The issue has never been that WP7 wasn't capable of turning off the sound; it's that LG's policy has been to prevent it. LG confirmed this when I contacted them to complain.

Awesome! Thanks for posting the instructions. I have wanted to do this since I bought the phone. Anyone know how to save camera settings through the registry?
