Why no CBS?

I searched and found a thread that was 2 years old and disintegrated into a Big Brother discussion.

But it's 2 years later and AT&T has still not managed to get locally owned CBS stations on board (and ondemand)?

Whether you read this and watch or don't watch CBS is not the matter here. I do watch it. A lot of it. And it is the highest rated broadcast station. Why has nothing been done about securing this programming?

p.s.

the options to select Topic were very minimal. none of them really fit my question, so I just clicked one. feel free to move my thread as needed.

CBS O&O Markets

Baltimore: WJZ-TV (channel 13)
Boston: WBZ-TV (channel 4)
Chicago: WBBM-TV (channel 2)
Detroit: WWJ-TV (channel 62)
Denver: KCNC-TV (channel 4)
Fort Worth: KTVT (channel 11)
Los Angeles: KCBS-TV (channel 2)
Miami: WFOR-TV (channel 4)
Minneapolis: WCCO-TV (channel 4)
New York City: WCBS-TV (channel 2)
Philadelphia: KYW-TV (channel 3)
Pittsburgh: KDKA-TV (channel 2)
San Francisco: KPIX (channel 5)
Stockton, California: KOVR (channel 13)

That's the agreement ATT got w/CBS.  Originally some other areas here in MI had CBS VOD, but it changed when ATT realized it got it wrong. 😉

That means your local CBS station is owned by the CBS network. Here in SW Missouri, our CBS station in locally owned, Texasguy34

99% of the time, when these contracts are up for renewal, things usually get improved or added onto.

The notable exception is the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel which were pulled years ago when Hallmark's ownership wanted substantially higher prices which AT&T refused to pay.

Maybe when the contract with Viacom and AT&T is up for renewal, things will improve. One can only hope.

They don't have a contract w/Viacom, just the individual stations in each market, AFAIK. 😉

Well, both, but neither matter here. It has a contract with Viacom, who is the owner of MTV, VH1, BET, etc.Viacom hasn't been affiliated with CBS for some time now.  It also has contracts with the local CBS affiliates.

CBS OnDemand, though, would be controlled by AT&T's contract with CBS, owner of CBS OTA programming, TVGN,  Showtime, etc.

Why has CBS left the Baton Rouge market?  I watch it often and miss the shows.
