@DianeJ - The remote controll is designed to send a power toggle to both the TV & the u-verse STB so hat both go on/off together. This fails when one is on & the other is off.

There are two causes -

1) When turning OFF, the STB does not see the power toggle & remains on. THis is bad because it is consuming a viewing stream that may cause you problems on other TVs. When turning ON, the power toggle turns it OFF. You tend not to notice that it does not properly turn off until it turns off when you want it on.

2) The STB is OFF, but does not see the power toggle to turn it on.

It is also possible that the STB is in the groove, gbut it is the TV that is out of synch. This is observed by dead TV while the green light is on on the STB. Press the power toggle again, followed by the OK button.

To minimze -

Make sure the STB IR sensor is clear of obsrtuction & clean.

Aim the remote for full cycle - TV & STB (& sound bar & DVD [if added])

Try different aims - Direct at TV/STB or bounce off ceiling or wall or floor.

No waving

This is actually a useful "feature" from keeping you from being in a situation where pressing the power button on the remote switches between the TV being on but the box being off and the box being on but the TV being off.  When you see "Click OK to watch TV", press the OK button; the TV and box are now "in sync" and the power button "should" now turn them both off.

Usually it happens when you move the remote away too fast when powering OFF.  Hold the remote in front of the TV/STB for a second longer.

I see this screen even when the DVR is off. id rather it go into an actual off state than stay on and have a slideshow going.
