Logged on to Directv, no problem. Selected Help and Tech Support. Took me to AT&T community support, no problem. Selected Chat Directv filled out all the pertinent info that is required. Chat Directv does not accept my Directv acct number.
Tells me I used my Directv acct to log in and they aren't ready for that yet and will log me back into my Directv acct (where I started) I guess this is the epitome of vicious cycle. Reminds me years ago of Ma Bell before the broke her monoply up - many slogan parodies and my favorite was "We're Ma Bell - we don't care, we don't have to"

Maybe you don't need to log in - I read your reply and just now stepped thru the links to establish a chat session. Here are the steps I took.
You used your DIRECTV email and password to log in to myAT&T.
myAT&T isn't quite ready for that, so tell us what you want to do.
Never did get connected to anyone in so-called chat

I don't have either an AT&T or DTV account this link allows me to enter info but haven't tried an actual chat.

if you are part of tech support quit reading the answer sheet and try to do what an actual user does.
or don't answer questions
