I have a Samsung 7100 series, but Directv only supports an older model 7000 series

Is there any hope that Directv will support the 7100 series?

The following posts in AVSForum's Official Samsung UNXXES7100 thread indicates 3D viewing with DirecTV. DirecTV is not updating its page on supported TVs if that is what is your problem. Plenty of TVs not on the list work fine.

I saw some reviews on Amazon from people using that model with Directv with no problems. All of the newer TVs work with Directv 3D. the list just isn't kept up to date.

Thx a lot. After talking to a Directv tech who actually was helpful I made a quick adjustment to my tv's settings and voila it works!

The usual problems with 3D on newer TVs are either a device between the receiver and TV that does HDMI switching that doesn't support the extra signalling over the old HDMI standard required for 3D or the TV's 3D settings need adjustment. The DirecTV 3D signal is side by side or SbS while other sources use a different method. The TV needs to be set for SbS or on an auto setting that detects the signal and automatically adjust to match. More rarely, a high speed HDMI cable may be needed.
