How do I get sound on my Insignia soundbar through a HR-44 receiver?

They are connected by digital audio optical. All I get is crackling. However, the music channels (800s)  and the Military channel (not hd) work fine. The sound bar worked fine when I had the HD-25 receiver. I had them connected by coaxial because that receiver didn't have optical. I appreciate any help.

looks like you need to assign the optical input to the source.  see your Insignia manual for details

Also, try both settings of the "Dolby Digital" setting in the H25's Audio Setup menu.

Inasmuch as the SD channels work, then I'd say you need to set Dolby to "off" on the Genie.
