Error Code 771: Bad Weather and Loss of Signal

Weather and Error Code 771 - No Service/ No Signal

Did you know that error code 771 means the receiver is not getting a signal? One of the causes can be thunderstorms and severe weather. If weather is the culprit of error code 771, services should return back to normal once the storm/weather clearsAlso, obstacles like tree branches can affect the signal, especially if they are hitting the dish causing pixelated screens and loss of service.

If weather is not an issue and you see code 771, below are some items you can do to determine the best course of action:

  1. Check your cable connections between your receiver and the wall outlet, starting with the SAT-IN (SATELLITE IN) connection and make sure they're secure.  If you have any adapters connected to the cable, check them as well.
  2. If you have a SWiM Power Inserter attached to the DIRECTV cable coming from your dish, unplug it from the electrical outlet.  Wait for 15 seconds, then plug it back in.  Don't plug in the SWiM Power Inserter to a power outlet that can be turned off. Then reset your receiver via the red button.
  3. If it is not raining, check to see if there is anything blocking the dish. If you see an obstruction, do not climb on your roof, chat with us to have this addressed.
  4. Check to see If your Dish is Out of Alignment.

Re: 771 SIGNAL LOSS

post your signal readings to see how your signals are

You'll find these readings under "Menu" -> "Setup" -> "System Setup" -> Satellite -> "View Signal Strength". Note the "+" and "-" symbols next to the "Satellite" and "Tuner" entries where you can toggle the readings between the various satellites and both DVR tuners. If you have a DVR it's important to check BOTH satellite tuners.

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner on the new post you create, using the example below as a guide. (The example below is only an example and not a form that will appear in your post unless you "cut" and "paste" it.) A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):
Satellite transponders (32 total at 101º)
[Most of your standard definition channels are beamed from 101ºW]

Re: i got an 711 signal lost

Is it happening on one receiver or multiple?

What model of receiver do you have. look for the model number inside the access card door..

Re: 771 SIGNAL LOSS

dontlikedirect - your post seems to have nothing to do with the OP's problem, which is 771 message probably due to a misaligned dish.

If you want to start your own thread, that might be helpful.
