Directv app error unknown error

I keep trying to log in and am getting error unknown error anyone else having this problem it is 24 June been this way for a day or two.

I have thought of an easy solution for AT&T to provide a level of service we would expect from a company this size that we hope would care for its customers.  AT&T should provide us DirecTV now accounts with equal service to what we have on our DIrecTV home accounts until they get this issue resolved.  It now makes sense why the AT&T employee made me download the app and try it before I left the store.  They knew this was an issue and didn’t advise me as a consumer that I was going to get less service than when I had U-Verse.  As soon as the installer was finished the app stopped working.  It seems now like AT&T knew of the issue and has still not fixed it.   Please make this right AT&T, I do not want to spend another 1.5 on the phone with customer service.

Error unknown error after 5 days and 7 1/2 hours on customer support still no resolution. I have been proven told this is a known error and the back office engineers are working it and to call back in 24 hours.  This is very upsetting that I am paying for services and not getting them. Looking at your forum and app reviews in the iPhone App Store this seems to be known problem for over a month why hasn’t AT&T done anything about this?  I noticed you had the time to release a new streaming app but you don’t seem to have time for your current customers.

Hello @tr1071!


I was able to respond to both of your previous posts, please keep an eye out for them. I would like to provide a work around for logging into your DIRECTV app. You can use the following steps in the myAT&T app:


  • Tap manage my plan link on DIRECT
  • Tap drop down menu at the top right and click Profile
  • Add secondary user

Please keep in mind this is only a workaround as our team is working on fixing this issue on the DIRECTV app. Thanks so much for your time. Have an amazing day!

Didn't work for me. The app is unusable. 

When I try logging in, it freezes or says there is a network connection problem (there is definitely not). The myAt&T app doesn't work for me since I'm not an ATT customer, I'm a DirecTV customer (remember, we exist too). When I try to log into that app, it says "looks like you logged in with your directv stuff, we're not ready for that" because that seems to be the theme here - the tech isn't ready but we'll dump it on our customers anyway. So then that sent me to the directv website on my phone, which has the exact same guide problems my desktop has (see my thread) where it kicks me out of my account or doesn't load.

I’m having same issues since 20th of June. Not able to stream my recorded DVR shows onto my iPad or iPhone app. I wasted hours on phone with AT&T enough to drive me to the nuthouse.  They better fix this, as I will be asking for a credit to my bill for LACK OF SERVICE!

Oh! And forgot to mention that the ON DEMAND features have not worked for a MONTH now! No on demand available for the specific channels I always record from. Not working on TV, iPad, nor iPhone

Keep getting “PLAYBACK ERROR, CANNOT BE STREAMED FROM YOUR DVR AT THIS MOMENT”. This MOMENT has been almost a month long moment now!

Have you tried resetting your main Genie DVR using the red button near the access card?

Jenn/AT&T,

After I add secondary user it takes me back the login menu. And when I repeated the steps I noticed the secondary account I previously added wasn’t there. So again, I got as far as entering the email and then after it spins around a second - back to login. Any other workarounds. Soooo I don’t have internet. The shows I want to watch are only accessible to me using this app. I mean it’s only TV - no big deal. But it’s wasting money for me. I can’t watch The 100 with my remote control. So when is this getting fixed, do you know?
