DIRECTV Set-Top Box Remote Function Changes (Redefined Menu, Playlist & Guide related)

 

Smart_Search_screen.jpgDash (-) Key

  • One press of the Dash (-) key will open the Smart Search Screen. This new functionality can be used on all screens (except Settings screen).

- Pressing the Dash (-) key twice will display the Receive/SWiM/Location/Internet details.  

 

 

 

 

Rewind and Fast Forward Keys

  • While on the Menu screen, the Rewind and Fast Forward keys can be used to jump forward and backward respectively while scrolling horizontally.
  • The Skip Backward and Skip Forward keys can be used to jump to the beginning of the row and the end of the row respectively while scrolling horizontally.

OSD Changes

Program was Recorded in HDR/Search for Other Program Airings OSD.

We have collected feedback from customers and will be making various improvements to the new user interface in several software enhancements beginning this summer.  Here are some of the key improvements we’re making:

 

  • Improved overall legibility/readability of the new UI (improvements includes items such as,  font size and color / contrast)
  • Improvements to the playback bar and channel info sections
  • Faster performance / responsiveness
  • Various Enhancements to Playlist and Recording management 

 

Your feedback is important.  We will continue to make improvements to the new user interface as customer feedback is received.

Why, since the latest update, is the service so slow? Trying to change a channel or pull up the guide takes more than twice as long as it use to and this is terrible!

I just now received the "improved" experience. Why wait for summer to improve  your improvement - give us back the old experience while you fix what you broke. Fonts are too small, color contrast is horrendous. Go back to the old one.

I agree...give us back the old interface.  It just took me 10 minutes to figure out how to restart a recorded show from the beginning.  The old interface took less than a minute because it was easy to find.  I am really close to cancelling my service and going to a competitor.

This new menu guide is UNACCEPTABLE. What happened to the caller Id log and the functionality of the 'Other showings"? This would allow customers to see the upcoming rendering of a show up to about 10 days. Now it's only 1 day. When you upgrade something shouldn't the end result be better? This is not and you took away functionality. I'm one customer you will lose with this type of service. I understand everything we have is still being offered by another company.

Caller ID feature is dead.  Newer hardware no longer have phone jacks.

The original message that this was being worked on was 11/2017 .Why is it not been changed back or fixed yet !

Exactly my question ! The programmer should be able to restart the older version and then leave it alone ...UGH ! Charter Communications is looking better and better !

I'm in the same boat.  I have reset my box, manually and through the website and still have the same issue.  Even switched out batteries in the remote.  Slow response time to changing channels then end up on a channel that I didn't want.  Pressing the Blue button to get a TV guide menu takes a long time to get.  When selecting a show, it take about a minute or two before it actually changes the channel.

 

This has become annoying and I am getting close to changing out from a Directv customer for over 20 years to someone else (possibly Xfinity).
