DIRECTV Set-Top Box Playlist Redesign

The Playlist screen has been completely revamped and will allow for filtering by program type. This will allow users to easily access recordings instead of scrolling through a long list.

 

The Playlist menus will be displayed in the left panel and their corresponding pages will be displayed in the right panel. Playlist will initially be sorted based on the latest recordings. When the user presses the “0” key, it will be alphabetically sorted (A-Z). The “0” key is used to toggle the playlist display between latest and alphabetical recordings.

 

 


The following are the Playlist left menu options.

All Recordings

  • All Recordings will display the entire playlist. 
  • If a title is being recorded, it will have the Recording Progress Indicator icon to indicate the progress of the recording. 
  • If a title has been partially watched, a Green activity bar will be displayed to indicate the watching progress of that title. 
  • The total number of titles and the number of titles un watched will be displayed next to each folder (e.g. 2 Unwatched of 5). 
  • If the user presses Select on any recording, it will start playing immediately. 
  • If the user selects Info, the Info page will be displayed.

Continue Watching

  • A new Continue Watching page will list all the partially watched recordings.
  • The user can easily choose and resume watching any partially watched content.
  • It also includes a Recently Watched On Demand folder containing a list of VOD titles.

Movies/TV Shows/Sports/Kids Zone

- Recordings will be filtered based on genre such as Movies, TV Shows, Sports, and Kids Zone, it will be displayed under each section respectively.

 Purchases

  • The Purchases page will list all the PPV titles purchased by the user.
  • It will contain a separate Purchases folder which will list all DIRECTV Buy Movies and TV Shows.

Last Chance

- A new Last Chance page will list all the purchased PPV titles that are set to expire soon. 

 

- This screen will also list recordings that are too old that can be deleted to free HD space if required.

Manage Recordings

  • The Manage Recordings screen has been moved to the Playlist and is more precise and user-friendly. 

 

Disk Space Available

The percent of available of disk space free and available for recording will be displayed on the left panel.

Terrible , nothing to be proud of , wind back or release only when it is functional (which 8 months later it's still sub-par and worse than the original in SO many ways........

 

User feedback of the BLUE box , and grey bar and slow response has just been ignored and not addressed in that entire 8 months , AT&T/DirecTV should feel ashamed to put their name to this mess

This rewind feature is driving me crazy!  Can't his single feature be corrected?  I can't believe that anyone asked for this!

Within the past eight weeks or so the number of programs displayed varies between the two devices we use when displaying ALL recorded content.  I've looked at the various options in both locations and found on the main location that the lists of programs are to be shared between both devices.  Last night however when I pressed the List button on the remote, one and only one program showed on the list for the main location, I turned it off at that point in time.  When I pressed List on the remote for the secondary location, all the recorded content appears.  I haven't done any exhaustive search for a possible solution but thought I might find one easily here.

It's a widely reported bug in whole home. Should be fixed in the next release.

After experimenting, I've found that if I use the 0 key (to sort) I can toggle between the erroneous display and the complete list.  Thanks for the lightning speed of your response.

Trying to find my recordings I Press List only to find some are not shown. I have to go into menu, then click on recordings, then playlist to find them all. Not sure it is worth keeping DIRECTV and AT&T. AT&T coverage has gotten worse and DIRECTV is not user friendly.

So when is the playlist bug going to be fixed??  I'll have 10 programs recorded to watch and when I press list, only get 2.  To see all of them, I have to go to the menu on the left, arrow up to Manage Recordings, then arrow over and scroll down to find Recording History.  The programs are there, but they're listed separately along with anything that's been deleted, or worse yet, anything I've already watched but saved.  All those are marked with just "recorded" so I don't know if I've watched it or not.  I have to go in and look at each one to figure out if I've watched it or not.  What is wrong with you people???

It's fixed.  v114b software is rolling out now.  More and more folks have reported getting that update in the past week, so hopefully it won't be too much longer before we're all update.  But it's normal for these updates to roll out very gradually over several weeks.

Wow! Your response to my complaint was incredible! I logged my complaint about the recorded playlist only yesterday and it was fixed today! Thank you so much!

The problem has been there for months and people were sick of waiting for a fix. You just happen to have complained the day before the fixed release went out!
