Re: DIRECTV: Redefined Menu, Playlist

On mine it’s under Settings, System Info & Test, and it’s on that screen
and again if you drop into Genie Info. I caught it just right and saw an
update on Thursday 8/2, (because my screen was different, not better, just
different) and that they hit it again the very next day on 8/3. My text is
a little bigger, but it’s still useless as a DVR.

Re: DIRECTV: Redefined Menu, Playlist

i can read the font ok, but that's only because i'm watching a 70" TV. On the 27" TV in the living room, I can't read anything.

my habit, at the end of a show, is to hit the BACK button. That used to take me right back to the episode list and I could hit the red delete button. But with the new software, until recently, it went back to the show I was watching, but you had to be careful, if you hit back twice, it would be in the "window" of that show, but may have all episodes in one box. If you hit delete there, you'd delete ALL the episodes. BE CAREFUL to check the details to see if you're on one episode or multiple episodes.

But recently, when a show ends, if I hit the BACK button, it may go back to the episode I just watched OR it may go into an episode list from an entirely different show. BE CAREFUL. you may delete something you haven't watched yet. But if I wait a few seconds, sometimes it changes again, back to the correct list of episodes.

here's my running list of problems  DIRECTV

Problems with new software

1. on my Genie DVR, "other showings" doesn't show much.

Older DVR shows next weeks episode and VOD episodes

2. I can't find the to do list

3. While watching TV pressing "info" brings up the time but no longer the day and date

4. It's too easy to delete the whole list of episodes versus one episode

5. It deletes shows while showing 1% free on other DVR's he goes to 0% when it's full.

7/30/18 Past couple weeks: At end of show hit back delete episode sometime it winds up inside list of other named show

Re: DIRECTV: Redefined Menu, Playlist

I just checked my HR54/500. Still showing last software update, 0x1088, Tues 6/26 4:20 am. I did a refresh, and that did nothing. So, I’m still stuck in AT&T’s time warp of updates.

Re: DIRECTV: Redefined Menu, Playlist

I received At&t first update in March-some got it earlier, some later. I got mine after I had unplugged my system to move my tv. I got this last update the same way-last week. I am not happy AT ALL what At&T has done to directv! Nothing at all!!! And obviously- since this stream of discussion has been going on for 10 months or so— they aren’t reading these complaints nor doing anything much about them!!! And yes, the last couple months now- some of my recordings have “disappeared” off my list only to show up on the next day! One more aggravation!!
Has anybody had a problem with exiting it going into a recording and have it say-not receiving signal? I have to shut system and tv off and then try again. This has only happened since At&T took over but wonder if its my 5 year old directv box????

Re: DIRECTV: Redefined Menu, Playlist

Could be your dish might be out of alignment, or signal being blocked by trees, which I experience every now and then. I live in a densely wooded rural development, and I don’t have a totally clear view of the southern sky. When the giant oaks get their leaves, and if the wind blows from a certain direction, i get a loss of signal or pixilation . I also get loss of signal if the lawn mowing people happen to hit the dish that’s on a pole in my yard.....or in the winter when we get sticky snow or sleet sticks to the dish, or the summer storms that roll through. There is a way Directv technical support can help you evaluate your overall signal strength. Give them a buzz....1-800-531-5000 between 8 & 6 pst.

Re: DIRECTV: Redefined Menu, Playlist

Thanks but I’m not losing signal in reality. It just like someone shuts the box off so my tv is saying no signal. Doesn’t always do it and not over a particular thing I’m doing. But usually when I turn on a recording, or sometimes when I change channels. It’s just strange!!
And don’t robotic thank me At&T for choosing you—I DIDNT!!!! You’ve ruined directv!!!

Press List Left arrow to list on left side of screen, Select "Manage
Recordings" press SELECTt - blue box on top if list on right press SELECT.

3. While watching TV pressing "info" brings up the time but no longer the
day and date
YEAH, I use by cell phone for this feature since it's gone from the screen.

Where do you go to see if you got an update?

Press menu (look at list on left side of screen,)
Press Page down key to Settings
Press Select two times
A screen comes up with the receiver number
Recorder ID
Access Card Number
Software number with version number date and time.
Press Exit to get out of it. (You do not have to do a system test).

Re: DIRECTV: Redefined Menu, Playlist

Try checking the cable jacks going into the back of the both the tv and dvr. If they are tight, sounds like your dvr is going.

Re: DIRECTV: Redefined Menu, Playlist

I'm really upset that AT&T's office refused to honor their Protection Plan that I have been pay for several years. I have been with AT&T for over 30 yrs, when the they were Bellsouth. My email is still bellsouth.com. They refused to fix my TV or defiantly refused to replace, that I my TV a Samsung LED plasma. They said the Plan does not cover that type of TV. No one told me that, when they talked me into buying the Plan, they just said it would cover my TV and PC and if they couldn't fix it, they would replace it. Well, I'm still watching on the same TV. They said it was in the Plan, I never received a Plan, just word of mouth.

Re: DIRECTV: Redefined Menu, Playlist

First I'd compose a respectful letter to AT&T's Consumer Relation
department including your account number and the date you started their
protection plan. If you don't get any satisfaction, I'd send a copy of
that letter along an AT&T's reply letter to your State's Attorney General's
office and file a formal complaint. [Edited to comply with Guidelines]

Re: Series manager

Horrible!! Horrible!: the new interface. Cat Mad  I think I gave it enough time to get used to it but it's so hard to read. The blue box is more confusing than helpful. Titles in the recorded section keep disappearing then reappearing, sometimes they are in the categories on the left (too tedious to remember to go to those fields). Arrrgh.

Is anyone at AT&T really paying attention to these posts? --  I'm seriously thinking of switching providers once my contract is up. -- Phew, I just needed to vent....
