Viewers pay outrageous fees for hundreds of channels and, in my case and the case of most, watch less than a dozen. So when Direct TV drops Beinsport, viewers have no choice but to drop Direct TV (don't the corporate suits appreciate that La Liga is the "premier" soccer league?). I'm looking at alternatives to Direct TV and will make the switch shortly if Beinsport is not reinstated. Come on Direct TV, get smart before the viewer stampede gains momentum!

BEIN Sports wants to raise cost. DirecTV could just say yes and pass that cost onto the customers or continue negotiating to keep a reasonable rate to prevent further bill increases. All TV providers go through this as they do not own the channels, and those networks continuing raising their costs. If cost to operate business goes up, then their prices goes up as we have seen the last few years.
The players got to eat and fund their multiple homes so they want us to pay for it.

May come back? What are we talking about in terms of a rate increase? A couple of bucks? Five? I'd be willing to pay more, but if it doesn't come back and SOON, we'll dump Directv.

You may but not me.
08-31-2018 4:26 PM
Well you might be willing to pay more, but not the rest of us.
In the end it will only come back once DirecTV and Bein Sports come to an agreement. Hopefully it will not be long, but negotiations take as long as they need to.

This channel is one of the only reasons I still have Directv. If this channel is not back I'll cancel DirecTV.
I copy and paste from another DirecTV subscriber but I feel the same way
I will give you few days You don't bring back Bein Sports you are gone and I will work hard to convince people to cancel the DirecTV subscription #StopCarrierBarriers #KeepbeIN on DIRECTV

Only beIN Sports can choose to turn the channel back on as they own the broadcast rights. They like many other channels have done, prefer to hold their channel "hostage" in a attempt to raise costs. I like most do not want another channel adding to a higher bill. If you would like to contact Bein Sports and tell them you will pay extra for the rest of us that don't, go right ahead.

DTV has no say in when they will sign a new contract and return their signal to DTV, have fun provider hopping when your new one has the same thing happens to them.

You reply as if you really know, Interesting for every issue is always two sides It is a pressure from bigger Networks like NBCSC TNT FOX to take the rights of La Liga. In collusion DirectV Fios Comcast trying to kill Bein Sports so the only possible outcome for Being Sport is sell the rights for la Liga that they own until 2019. Already had to Drop Serie A.
So Inform yourself better

Both sides start negotiating before agreement comes up.
Once agreement is up, if no new agreement reached, then channel owner can turn off their feed (as is their right) to DirecTV.
Channel wants to increase cost, DirecTV does not.
If cost goes up, it gets passed onto the customer, usually added into the next price adjustment.
So would you rather DirecTV succeed in preventing increased costs, or do you want a higher bill to get the channel back sooner?
