Sound drops periodically on AMC HD

Regardless of what show I watch on AMC HD, the sound will cut out for a couple of seconds at least a half dozen times during a 1 hour show. Sometimes it occurs on A&E HD too, but otherwise it doesn't happen on any other channel that I watch. Very irritating. Thoughts?

Does this happen on all uverse boxes in the house or just one?  If it's just one box/TV is it the DVR, wireless regular box, or a regular hardwired box?

The same thing has been happening to me for the last year or so.  It's not so much periodically it is more like 4-8 times per one hour show.  The sound drops on both recorded and live shows.  The issue has been slowly migrating to other channels too.  It only happens with the wired DVR box.

My sound dropping started on AMC HD and now happens on almost every non premium cable channel.  I have changed HDMI cables, used HDMI to my receiver and composite to the TV, even tried optical cables for audio and it still happens.

All wired boxes.

Last tech that I spoke to told me to contact my tv manufacturer...Useless!!!

What next?

If your channels have audio drop outs, you should try using the TV's internal speakers, not using your receiver at all.    If the problem goes away you have at least proven that the problem is with your audio receiver.  If the problem is still  there,  replace the setup with another tv and see if the problem goes away.  If the problem is still there then it is the Uverse equipment..

Hey Mitch,

Thanks for the response.

I reset all the audio connections and tested the sound in all rooms.

The sound drops in every room now.

Even on the tv that is still connected with coaxial cable.

I even reset the signal box and since then I've been getting more picture freezing.

Not happy at all, especially when it happened while watching Playoff football and Walking Dead marathon.

I want to call the techs but they are the one's that told me that it was a receiver problem or a tv problem...not theirs.

Contact ATT Uverse Care on the link in my signature.

Send them a private message, on this link, and they should be able to give the help needed to solve your Uverse service audio drop problems. They are available M-F 8am-11pm Eastern time (also around on weekends), response may take up to 2 business days.

This is not the regular CS/TS phone people, but the social media Community Specialists that know the people to contact to get things done. I personally know as they've helped me on a DVR swap.

Include your account #, email address and a good phone # (land or cell) and time to contact you on.

Check the blue PM envelope, upper right on every page, for their reply. Good luck 😉

Thanks Chris.

Sending the info now.

I know that my wife would be angry if they lost all the shows that she's already dvr'd.

Oh well.

We've been dealing with this issue for over 2 years now and it seems to be getting worse as other channels other than AMC is exhibiting the same issue (sound cuts off for a few seconds at least 6-7 times per hour). Very irritating especially when we miss key dialogue. The DVR playback has the missing sound as well. We have 3 wired recievers and they all do it and they have all been reset many times. This is a signal issue and we are getting really sick and tired of it.

We are also having this issue.  Seems to only happen on AMC (and related) channels.  Anybody know a fix for this?

We were using component connections and it was happening.  We recently switched to HDMI cables and it still happens.  The only audio output we have is through the HDMI cable going to the TV.

I just sent a message (2/23/2015) to UVerse Care about this issue and am waiting to hear back from them. BTW, we are not using a seperate sound system and just use the TV sound and all of our receivers are wired (not wireless), so it's not an issue with audio cables, etc. I will post back immediatly when I get a response or any progress with this issue.
