Pause "overlay" won't go away

When sreaming AT&T TV / AT&T TV NOW (using the Android app) on my Samsung Galaxy 8+ (SM-G955U) running Oreo (8.0.0), the "overlay" that initially appears (that has the pause symbol in the center - see picture below) no longer goes away after a few seconds. It stays on the screen permanently and obscures (dims) viewing of the program. It used to go away after a 10 seconds or so, but now, no matter what I do, it won't go away. i have tried removing and reinstalling latest version of app, restarting phone, changing numerous phone settings, etc.  but nothing makes any difference. Any thoughts?Screenshot_20180907-104219_DIRECTV NOW.jpg

Has anyone got a response on how to fix this issue? I'm having the same issue on my Android. I'm trying to speak to an actual person with att to fix but no luck yet

Re: Pause "overlay" won't go away

I assume it is a bug with the latest release. I would assume they would see this and work to fix it in a SOON TO BE RELEASED update!

I hope!

Re: Pause "overlay" won't go away

It appears that this problem is neither device specific nor app specific. It may be carrier or Android version specific, or it could be some combination of the foregoing. If you are having the same problem, please list your device, Android version, and carrier name. My info is: non-rooted Samsung Galaxy S8+ (model SM-G955U), Android 8.0.0 (Oreo), Verizon. I believe that the problem started after my OTA update from Verizon on September 5, 2018.

Just found this: https://forums.att.com/t5/Watching-DIRECTV-NOW/Persistent-Pause-screen/td-p/5589970

The proposed solution doesn't work for me, but it might help some of you who are having this issue.

I saw that too but it doesn't work for me. Tapping the screen shows an option to zoom but doesn't remove the overlay.

Re: Pause "overlay" won't go away

Mr.MrsD9: AT&T is your carrier, Verizon mine, so it's probably not a
carrier-related problem. It could very well be the latest update of the
DirecTV Now app. I am experiencing the problem on Version 2.0.13.01184 of
the app. Go to SETTINGS, APPS, DIRECTV NOW and then look for the version
number at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, open the app, select
MANAGE (the gear icon on the top right of the opening screen), then ABOUT,
then look for the version and build numbers at the bottom of the screen.
Mine says Version 2.0.13 and Build 01184.

If anyone is having the problem on an earlier version of the DIRECTV NOW
app, please chime in.

I now strongly suspect that the problem is with the latest version of the
app, but please prove me wrong if you can.

Running same version on LG V20. I get the pause button but then just tap anywhere on the screen and it goes away.

Glad you're having success. Try as I may, I cannot get the pause "overlay"
to go away on my S8+.

i have T-Mobile, i would seriously doudt it has anything to do with who your service provider is. i dont get cell service at my house anyways so using dtv now at home is strictly wi-fi
