DVR not recording series

I have the new AT&T TV box and for the most part really like it.  The only problem is that when I set up a series to record, it is not recording each episode.  When I go back into the show, it shows the little red circles like it is set up to record and my option is now "cancel series" rather than "record series, but very few of the upcoming recordings are showing as "set to record".  If I don't go to each individual upcoming episode and choose to "record episode" it won't get recorded.  The DVR with 500 hours was my main draw in going with this new service.  Am I doing something wrong or is it still glitchy?
