Android TV App

I'm really surprised that Android TV was not included from the start. That's all we have in our home (Mi Box running Android TV 6). If you can support Fire TV, you can definitely support Android TV. Can we get a timeline as to when an app will be available? Other OTT providers already support Android TV (i.e. Sling, PS Vue).

Crime and Investigation Channel

I see Crime and Investigation as an available channel for the Go Big package (http://cdn.directv.com/content/dam/dtv/gmott/html/compare-packages-account.html), however, when I attempt to view it either through Chrome, iOS or tvOS I do not see it in the guide as a channel. Is it possible that it is coming in the future but it just hasn't been enabled for the service?

Supported devices for HBOGO. Add TiVo to the list.

Could you please add TiVo to the allowed device list for HBOGO? A lot of cord cutters went with a over the air TiVo Romio for DVR like me for local channels and it won't let me sign into HBO on the device because it's not n the list of supported devices on Directvgo.

EVERYONE asking about Roku support, in the Press Event it was stated at 2-4 weeks, later articles and DTV personell on teh facebook page have stated 1st quarter 2017 (so 4 months tops), personally I think the reason for not launching with Roku is due to Roku being mid way through a MAJOR OS update that includes a new SDK, they likely used the new SDK to develop the app, as features in the new SDK where needed to give the same experience as found on other devices and as such the rollout of 7.5 needs to be completed before the app can be released, but thats just my theory.

My TV has Amazon Prime TV built in.  Can I access Direct TV NOW?  

If yes, how?  

I saw some other comment on VPN being on or off.  I had no clue what this meant.

Android Multimedia players

It would be nice if you added the ability to play to generic android media players such as the RK3188 (Rockchip) or the MXq series, like those that can be bought off ebay for a reasonable price.  They stream Netfilx, ESPN and all the other stuff just fine.  Your app loads okay but then crashes when starting to play anything.  BTW, those come from the manufacturer already rooted.  Just because a device is rooted you should not prevent us from using it to watch the service.

@SteveR67 not with the TV directly, Amazon Prime is Amazons video app, it doesn't make your TV a "Fire TV", you'll need a supported device to use to stream.

Connectivity problems may prevent the DIRECTV NOW app from pairing with your Cast Enabled device. To resolve this issue, try the following:

 

  • Make sure your mobile and Cast Enabled devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Close and re-launch both the DIRECTV NOW and Cast enabled devices.
  • Check for updates to your DIRECTV NOW and cast enabled apps from your app store (if available).
  • NVIDIA TV Shield is not a supported device yet and review our supported devices for additional details.

This is not a mere connectivity problem. It connects fine. The problem is that it can't successfully stream (instead it displays a continuous 10-15 second video loop of the selected program). Are you telling me that DirecTV is not aware that Cast-enabled devices other than the Chromecast are not in fact working with DirecTV Now despite being officially supported devices? This is not an isolated incident as this is the case for each and every SmartCast display on the market. Let me know if you need more info and please alert your technical team ASAP! There are a lot of upset customers out there and your failure thus far to even recognize this issue is somewhat alarming.

Is single sign on/TV Provider going to be supported in iOS/tvOS 10.2?

Hello,

    I am on the latest beta of iOS 10 and tvOS 10, and they both have a 'TV Provider' option that allows you to designate who your cable provider is for single sign on (and currently also lists things like DirecTV (not DirecTV NOW) and Sling (another streaming service similar to DirecTV NOW) and additional ones. I am assuming that single sign in/TV Provider sign in is coming, possibly with the final version of 10.2. Can someone from AT&T/DirecTV NOW confirm this? While I'm allowed to log into the various services' apps using the DirecTV NOW login, I'd like to sign in once and have it apply to all, like is supported in others.

SUCCESS!!

I couldn't login to the app.  DIRECTVNOWCare suggested changing my password, so...

 

I'm using a Macintosh computer, OS X 10.11.6 (El Capitan).  I found that SAFARI is not compatible enough with directvnow.com for me to access my account info and to change my password.  So I downloaded the latest version of the Google Chrome browser and was finally able to access my account info and could change my password.

 

Then, I went to the DIRECTVNOW app (on my APPLE TV 4) and typed in my new login info.  It worked!  I'm now watching my favorite programs through the DIRECTVNOW app.

 

I don't have all the answers but if anyone wants to ask something, maybe I can help.

 

BTW, rebooting your AppleTV might help.  Do that by holding down the MENU & Home Keys simultaneously for a few seconds until the light on the box begins to blink very fast.  Then let go.  The device will reset and come back on.  

Also, deleting and reinstalling the DirecTVNow app might also help.  

But changing my password is what did the trick for me.
