Hi I am trying to install my yamaha av receiver and surround sound speakers to my uverse box.  I have sound but no picture.  TV is saying no signal.  I connected with hdmi from tv to receiver and hdmi from uverse to receiver-I have sound but no picture.  What other connection do I need to have picture.

@gtwel605   Can you connect to the yamaha receiver by fiber optical to the DVR/STB RG and HDMI directly to the DVR/STB at the TV from the RG.

The yamaha is not passing the HDMI video portion thru to the TV now.  Not an uncommon situation.  Good luck 😉

Chris' suggestion is a good one with a little slip of the keyboard. He means connect the u-verse end to the STB, not the RG.

Of course, that means you do not watch other sources. To cover that - most newer TVs have an optical out.

Running the HDMI through the Yamaha is one way to make it work. But, it adds complexity -

You need to select the input

The Yamaha needs to pass the "non-copy " signal back to the STB at the right time.

Setting up the audio from the TV & connecting/selecting input in the TV is a more solid method.

@aviewer  Nope, fiber optical cable goes between DVR/STBRG/Yamaha receiver, then HDMI goes directly fom RG to TV DVR/STB. 😉

@mibrnsurg - Must be the new Direct TV equipment.

The only connections I have seen on RGs  are COAX and cat5 broadband to STBs (or internet devices).

The STB "tunes" the channel & outputs audio/video on the various connections.

HDMI out from the STB to a HDMI input on the yamaha. HDMI out on the yamaha to an HDMI input on the TV. Select the input on the TV that the HDMI cable from the yamaha is connected to. Set the Yamaha to the HDMI input that the STB is connected to. Get your Yamaha owners manual and read how to set it up use it.
