Why Are U-verse Recordings Being Erased? - Solutions from the Community

Are your recordings mysteriously disappearing? Believe it or not, it could be what you are doing. Check out the info below to learn what you can do to stop losing your recordings.   

 

Why are my recordings being deleted?

A normal feature of the DVR is to delete content to make room for new recordings. If the DVR is used often, you will see an increase of deleted recordings. Keep in mind, the DVR has a limit of how many recordings it can store.

 

Note: Depending on your DVR, you can store up to 422 hours of standard definition (SD) or 155 hours of high-definition (HD) content.  

 

Other causes of deleted/ missing recordings.

  • Power Related - Surge protectors and power strips have been known to cause issues with recordings as they are not rated for electronics. Plug it into a wall outlet. This may prevent your recordings from being deleted.
  • Hardware Related – A bad hard-drive may prevent your favorite show(s) from being recorded properly or from being recorded in the first place. If you have attempted all troubleshooting listed in this article, please use our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool/App to set up a replacement.

How To Check DVR Space

If you try to record a program when your DVR is almost full, you'll get a message that the recording space is getting low. To see how much space is available:

  1. Press Menu on your remote control.
  2. Select Recordings.
  3. Select Recording Space. Your remaining DVR recording space will display on the screen.

Restoring Recordings

Restarting your DVR may restore missing recordings. Just press and hold the power button on the DVR for 10 seconds. In some instances, you may need to restart the modem and other receivers.
