Does the dvr/stb support ethernet over hdmi?

Does the dvr/stb support ethernet over hdmi?  I recently ordered some new hdmi cables for other reasons, but went ahead and got 1.4b... well high speed cables that support everything in the 1.4 spec is a better way to put it.  I have my doubts, but was wondering if uverse supports this in their boxes?  If not, are there any plans on doing so?  Main reason I am asking is because my boxes could then supply ethernet though the hdmi for tv, ps3, etc without the need for additional rj-45 connections or using wirelesss.

Anyone know?

No, the U-Verse STBs do not support Ethernet over HDMI.

morrow - I do not know either, but would be very surprised if it is, or will soon be, supported because there is no business driver.

I believe the network jack works on STBs connected via COAX just by accident - just to make both work.

But, the purpose of the HDMI connection is only to light the TV.

I see that the recommendation is to label ethernet capable jacks HEC. While it does not have to be done, att would probably do it.

Of course, you can always try it. Connect your device HDMI only & see if you can reach the net. Then you will know.
